Mairi Hedderwick

Mairi Hedderwick needs hardly any introduction to Highland audiences. As author and illustrator of the famous Katie Morag books and many Highland travel books, her books and illustrations are familiar to almost everyone in the Highlands, Scotland and beyond.

Mairi’s accounts of the boisterous and wily Katie Morag are loosely based on her own family’s experiences growing up on the Isle of Coll. These books appeal to children as much today as they did when they were first published in the 80s. The wonderfully idyllic stories also include the realities of island life and how Katie must cope with it.

Mairi is again visiting us in Inverness to bring to life Katies adventures with Tiresome Ted, The Riddles, The New Pier, The Dancing class and many many more.
